p>A full time opportunity for a Psychiatrist in our inpatient Women’s Trauma and Concurrent Program starting July 2024. The Women’s Trauma & Concurrent program is one of the first of its kind in Canada - a groundbreaking initiative offering intensive treatment tailored specifically for women* with complex trauma. This program is delivered on-site at the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, registered psychotherapists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, music therapists and horticulture therapists. li>We embrace diversity and inclusivity. This program is open to all who self-identify as women (cis or transgender), and to non-binary/gender queer individuals who are most comfortable in a women-identified setting. li>Specialized treatment led by an experienced clinical team of all genders, including assessment, stabilization, skills development, trauma processing using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and discharge planning.Group programming featuring dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), substance use recovery processing and relapse prevention, as required.Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, medication management, referral to the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, rTMS, Ketamine infusion) when appropriate
Collaborate with other physicians, nurses and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team
Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes and finally, a comprehensive discharge summary of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team
Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)
Ability to provide ECT treatment to patients at the Homewood Health Centre approximately once per month is an asset
A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred
Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis and complex problem solving skills
Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital
Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the principles of trauma-informed care are welcomed assets
