Job Summary South Health Campus (SHC) serves Calgary and surrounding rural areas and operates as a referral centre for Southern Alberta. The Allied Health department provides services to inpatient units and outpatient service areas. Under the supervision of the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the Clinical Practice Leader, this Therapy Assistant role primarily delivers direct and non‑direct patient care as part of an inter‑professional team led by Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech‑Language Pathologists. Responsibilities As a Therapy Assistant you will: Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of rehabilitation services for acute medical, neuro, and surgical patients—including children and adults—across the health care continuum. Provide direct client care and supportive indirect care as part of the team, including assistance with activities of daily living, therapeutic positioning, and equipment setup. Collaborate with audiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreational therapists, and speech‑language pathologists to deliver coordinated care. Participate in quality improvement, program planning, and student supervision. Cover weekends on a rotational basis and support shift coverage as required. Maintain professional ethics and demonstrate reflective practice and lifelong learning. Qualifications Required: Completion of a diploma from an accredited post‑secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification. Preferred: Experience as a Therapy Assistant in an adult acute care environment in the past year. Experience as a Seating Technician within the past year.
