Patients before Paperwork (Pb4P) is a provincial priority that has been identified as part of the drive to modernize Ontario’s health system. In October 2022 the Ontario Ministry of Health (MoH) released an “Axe the Fax” Implementation Plan and Roadmap Report that will guide a transformational change to how providers communicate across the health system. The Lead, Patients Before Paperwork Health Policy will be responsible for the development of evidence-based policies and program enhancements, including materials to support change management. The Lead will work closely with internal clients and external partners to set strategic priorities, identify milestones, manage associated workstream(s) and ensure that Pb4P project objectives are continually integrated into portfolio plans and deliverables.

  • Managing the Policy workstream of the Pb4P initiative.
  • Contributing to the development of multi-year policy-related strategies to advance Pb4P priorities in consultation with the MoH and numerous other internal and external partners, at varying levels.
  • Ensuring OH’s funding and accountability agreements reflect Pb4P priorities and project workstream objectives.
  • Facilitating effective decision-making by providing strategic analysis, recommendations, and briefings for Ontario Health’s senior leadership team.
  • Identifying policy levers that could be activated to support Pb4P workstreams, and then leading the planning and implementation of policy related Pb4P workstreams.
  • Collaborating with internal/external SMEs to understand current state of clinical workflows to understand the impact of any policy and requisite process changes.
