HURON PERTH HEALTHCARE ALLIANCE NOTICE OF VACANCY POSITION: MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST Core Lab Primary Site: Stratford Full-Time POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs both routine and advanced test procedures, as necessary, for the efficient functioning of his/her area of assignment. REPORTS TO: Laboratory Technical Manager DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible SALARY: $36.84 to $50.24 per hour QUALIFICATIONS: - Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program - Current or eligible for registration with the CMLTO in the disciplines of Blood Bank, Hematology and Biochemistry EXPERIENCE: - Preferably at least two years recent technical experience in a core lab. ABILITIES: - Working knowledge of Meditech Information System and personal computer applications - Able to exercise initiative in problem solving - Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. - Ability to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in a stressful environment - Ability to organize, prioritize and adapt to constant changing priorities. - Ability to direct, mentor, correct and report on work of MLA - Computer literate (LIS, word processing and spreadsheet programs) - Be familiar with phlebotomy techniques and all types of blood collection. - Competency as described in the Competency Profile - General Medical Laboratory Technologist, as published by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
