Working Business Language: Bilingual in French and English. This role is considered a head office role and requires regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders across Canada where the business languages utilized are both English and French. As such, the successful candidate must be fully proficient in English and French.

Working under minimal supervision, the Intermediate/Senior Commercial Underwriter in our Renewal Services team plays a key role in analyzing the acceptability of complex, high-premium policies. Strictly adhering to company guidelines, he works closely with our sales force to maximize business opportunities. In addition, he is committed to providing expert, value-added service to existing and potential policyholders, thereby strengthening our market position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform risk analysis using technology as well as external data sources for the purposes of quoting, negotiating and authorizing the acceptance of risk.
  • Determine eligibility for policy renewals based on guidelines and retention goals of the company.
  • Maintain accurate records of decisions made and maintain completeness of policy data.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for insurance policies, processes, regulations and audit.
  • Participate in periodic work reviews for quality assurance purposes.
  • Support the development and implementation of business change.
  • Influence team members in a positive manner, and provide short term direction effectively working towards team goals.
  • Foster positive working relationships with internal and external parties, including networking at industry events.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years in Commercial Property and Casualty industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
