Full-Time. Hours on Work: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.. Grade: 12.7. Office Location: 12.7 Calgary, AB. The Opportunity The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division, a division of First National Financial, provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker channel. The Mortgage Underwriter renders credit decisions on incoming applications within authorized limits while focusing on service excellence and applying due diligence when reviewing required documentation. Primary Duties And Responsibilities Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the Company. Maintain relationships with external partners such as mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors. Adjudicate mortgage applications within established authority limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines. Interact with Mortgage Insurers where applicable to complete credit lending decisions. Complete due diligence prior to signing off on mortgage conditions or documents, where applicable. Prepare and issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions within established service level agreements/turnaround times. Prioritize applications and workflow to maintain consistent and sound risk assessments while managing high volumes and a continued focus on service excellence. Stay current with latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends. Skills And Attributes Ability to build and maintain positive relationships. Strong aptitude for service excellence. Adhere to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are met. Education/Certification/Experience Requirements Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required. Previous experience within the Financial Services sector preferred. Previous experience within the Mortgage industry an asset. Completion of Mortgage Agent Course and/or BC Financial Services Authority (“BCFSA”) license an asset. Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required. Why Join First National?
