Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs- Oncology (Solid Tumor) Join Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. We are seeking a Senior Medical Director for our Oncology leadership team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Purpose The Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs is responsible for the Oncology team and all relevant products within solid tumor oncology. This role leads Medical Directors, Medical Education, Medical Communication and Field teams and implements the medical strategy across the organization. You Will Be Responsible For Oversee the team responsible for developing medical strategies supporting all assets within Oncology and executing those strategies from both head office and the field, including the Integrated Evidence Generation Plan, medical education and MSL field execution plans to ensure safe and effective use of J&J products. Lead the medical sciences vision and strategy for Solid Tumor Oncology, positioning Medical Affairs as a core pillar in the organization. Serve on the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT), setting strategic vision and governing the function while enhancing connectivity and best practice sharing across regional, global and partner organizations. Develop and deliver the Medical Affairs strategic plan for early assets and maintain the long‑term strategy for all assets within the therapeutic area, ensuring adequate resources aligned with patient needs and business priorities. Attract, develop and manage core talent to build a diverse, high‑performing medical organization and expand the talent pipeline for global medical affairs. Ensure all strategies, processes and approvals comply with relevant guidelines and regulations. Guide the development and implementation of Integrated Evidence Generation Plans (IEGP), including clinical study protocol approval at the local level, ensuring innovation readiness from site initiation through regulatory approval. Represent Canada in global medical affairs forums, shaping global strategies and tactics to reflect Canadian market needs. Act as a key clinical/scientific expert before leading medical experts, professional associations and institutions, while collaborating closely with commercial and market access counterparts at the disease‑area leadership level. Qualifications / Requirements Advanced scientific degree; MD, PhD, PharmD strongly preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and/or healthcare environment. Track record of success within Medical Affairs and/or clinical development function preferred. Required background in Solid Tumor Oncology; experience in lung, head & neck, prostate and/or bladder highly preferred. Demonstrated direct people leadership experience; preference for those who have led other people leaders. Strong business acumen and understanding of market dynamics and value drivers. Highly innovative and able to drive in a complex, changing environment. Strategic thinking and influencing skills with a collaborative mindset. Experience establishing and engaging medical expert/opinion leader networks. Experience in patient advocacy and engagement. Experience in a multi‑functional matrix organization. Strong stakeholder management, cross‑functional partnership, interpersonal communication and team‑building skills. Travel estimated at 15‑20% of time internationally and within Canada.
