OverviewUltrasound Sonographer – Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH)Casual position in the Medical Imaging department. Pay grid: $37.24 - $51.41 / hour. Posting Date: 2025-09-30. Closing Date: N/A.ResponsibilitiesPerforms ultrasound examinations, consults with Radiologist on pathology findings, sets up and assists with special procedures for Radiologist.Operate ultrasound equipment with minimal supervision, ensuring patient safety and supervising student technologists or nursing observers.Maintain hand-eye coordination and dexterity for scanning; manage urgent examination requests under pressure.Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality; uphold departmental and hospital standards of quality patient care, productivity, economy and safety.Coordinate patient preparations and booking for special procedures.Utilize PACS and NEODIN for image display, networking, archival and retrieval.Provide daily supervision and evaluation of DMS students; assist Clinical Instructor as required with affiliated regional colleges.Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure a safe, clean environment.Stay current with new ultrasound and reprocessing techniques; follow hospital policies and isolation procedures; use protective devices as required.Maintain current CPR; comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Hospital Prevention Plan.Participate in rotational and call-back duties as scheduled; verify appointments with nursing units to ensure prompt patient care.Transport patients or equipment as required; file and retrieve ultrasound records; maintain adequate stock of ultrasound room supplies.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Medical Ultrasound program; ARDMS or Sonography Canada registration or eligibility required.Registered and in good standing with CMRITO.Proof of Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).CPR certification.Familiarity with EMR systems and imaging software; skilled in equipment operation and image acquisition; adaptability in techniques.Demonstrated ability to assess image completeness and determine need for additional views.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Physically able to meet job demands (prolonged standing, patient positioning, equipment handling).All qualified applicants are invited to submit resumes to hr@renfrewhosp.com or via the RVH website.
