Carleton Dining Services would love to have you on our team Job Description The Banquet Captain is responsible for coordinating daily catering requirements, events, and set‑ups for conference groups on the Carleton University campus. Reporting to the Catering Manager, the role includes: Coordinate catering functions and special events for internal and external clients/groups. Ensure food and service meet quality control standards. Execute events from beginning to end. Supervise staff, including agency staff when required. Conduct pre‑shift rallies/meetings. Provide clear instructions to staff to ensure tasks are completed timely and properly. Ensure courteous service is provided to customers at all times. Train staff on job duties and Aramark catering standards in conjunction with the Assistant Manager. Operate automobiles, vans, and light trucks to deliver and pick up food items, maintaining safety standards. Keep the catering room organized and clean. Adhere to all Aramark policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as required. Requirements Minimum 2 years of catering experience/background. Ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Strong organizational skills. Effective team‑management experience. Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. Physical ability to lift 50 lb and push/pull 100 lb. Smart Serve Certification. Valid driver’s license; driver’s abstract will be requested. The selected candidate must successfully complete and pass a Criminal Background Check.
