What You’ll Do Lead the design and development of firmware for ORBCOMM’s OGx Telecommunication Network, with a focus on physical‑layer satellite signal processing. Enhance, optimize, and maintain existing firmware, driving improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability. Provide technical leadership on the modem’s physical layer, including DSP algorithm implementation for RF and satellite communication systems. Collaborate closely with Hardware and Systems Engineering teams to define requirements, explore solutions, and implement design objectives. Participate in cross‑functional design discussions to ensure firmware aligns with system‑level architecture and business goals. Contribute to firmware architecture, ensuring long‑term maintainability, efficiency, and adaptability. Diagnose and resolve low‑level firmware issues through thorough debugging performance analysis. Support the broader success of the team and organization through additional responsibilities as needed. Who You Are You’re a strategic and hands‑on leader with a proven ability to own complex initiatives, mentor teams, and carry projects through with focus, expertise, and impact. If you have: 10+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, with a strong foundation in signal processing, RF systems, and wireless communication technologies. Expertise in real‑time C programming and RTOS‑based development for low‑level embedded systems, with proven experience working in Linux environments and utilizing associated development tools. Strong background in digital signal processing (DSP), including algorithm design and verification using tools like MATLAB. Hands‑on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, frequency synthesizers) and modem performance analysis. Proficiency with scripting languages like Python and Bash to support test automation and streamline development workflows. Focus on performance optimization and memory efficiency, with a deep understanding of real‑time constraints in embedded environments. Exceptional analytical and debugging skills, with the discipline to resolve complex firmware issues at the hardware interface level. A clear and confident communication style, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
