We are determined to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.Higher Ground Consulting (HGC) a Division of Englobe is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our successful geotechnical engineering practice working throughout the lifecycle of projects from initiation to design to construction. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, on multiple projects while being a part of growing geotechnical team.Our work includes the Oil and Gas, Mining, Renewable Energy, Rail, Water Resources, and Municipal sectors. Our geotechnical projects include dams, reservoirs, pipelines, heavy civil earthworks, ground improvements, and foundations for most infrastructure.We want our people to be regularly in the office to foster communication, culture, and efficiency; however, we do not mandate specific office time or working schedules. We have a relaxed, flexible and dog-friendly office. This position will work with clients and team members in multiple locations across Canada and the US.This position will be based in our head office in Downtown Calgary, Alberta.Does this sound like the right fit for you? Learn more about the roleYour main responsibilitiesPlanning and overseeing geotechnical site investigations and monitoring installations, including managing staff, subconsultants, and subcontractorsConducting site inspections at client sites and on-site coordination of complex site investigationsProject management including project planning, initiation, coordination, execution, and close-outLead geotechnical design and analysis including soil and rock engineering, soil dynamics, slope stability, deep and shallow foundations, supported by senior geotechnical staffLead reporting and technical writing, supported by senior geotechnical staffMentoring geotechnical junior engineers and EITsProvide technical support for soil testing completed by othersProvide technical and commercial input on proposalsDeveloping relationships with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and key stakeholdersWhat makes you uniqueDegree in civil, geotechnical, or geological engineeringRegistered as a P.Eng. in CanadaExcellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsComputer and software skills to complete geotechnical analysis, including GeoStudio, LPile, APile, Settle3D, GIS Mapping Software, OpenGround/Holebase SIApplicant must be willing to travel to remote sites as required on a project basisValid driver’s license and be legally entitled to work in CanadaAt least 6 years of geotechnical engineering experienceThe following will be considered an assetExposure to large civil earthworks construction projectsExperience with the design, construction, operation, and inspection of damsFlexible and open to changing priorities and multi-taskingPrevious experience working in geotechnical consultancyBusiness development experienceWhat makes Englobe uniqueAt HGC, a division of Englobe, you\'ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects of every size and scope.
