Please reach out to Human Resources should you require accommodation during the recruitment process.Location : CAN - Niagara On The Lake, Niagara PkwyJob Posting Title : Customs SpecialistTime Type : Full TimeSummaryPrimary duty is to set up and release shipments imported into Canada across various modes of transportation containing a wide variety of commodities, paying close attention to the rules and regulations as set out by CBSA in the Customs Act.Key Duties And ResponsibilitiesSet up and release of assigned account shipmentsProcessing of highly complex shipments, with various Participating Government Agency requirementsTrack and trace incoming shipments and communicating with clients as requiredSupport other customs team members with various customs processesProvide final accounting to CBSA for a set list of assigned accountsArranging for payments of invoices to steamship lines, warehouses, government agenciesArranging for transportation of cargo once released, and maintaining trucker relationships to maximize partnershipsIdentify tasks that require special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions within assigned scope of responsibilityAdhere to all Standard operating Procedures and Polices set in place by the department and organizationProvide input and be an active participant at weekly team briefingsQuality, Health & Safety :Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification – Montreal locationPerform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or Equivalent qualificationCertified Customs Specialist (CCS)5- 10 years of freight forwarding and / or customs brokerage experienceSkills And CompetenciesGood command, both verbal and written, English skills.Ability to create collaborative engagements and active listeningService oriented and able to resolve customer grievancesStrong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externallyStrong problem-solving skills and analytical skillsAbility to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet goals and achieve resultsBoth a team builder and a team-playerExcellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.Act as a role model for DSV values and adhere to the Code of ConductLanguage And Computer SkillsEnglish is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.Microsoft Office suitePhysical DemandsProlonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computerOccasional travel may be requiredRegular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.Additional Notes / AcknowledgmentDue to the dynamic nature of our industry, your accountabilities and role may change.
