Island Health welcomes Anesthesiologists to apply for permanent, full-time, part-time or locum opportunities. The Department of Anesthesia at NRGH is seeking Anesthesiologists to join their close-knit and collegial group of 19 FRCP(C) anesthesiologists.Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is a 356 acute care bed regional hospital providing services to a population of 160,000 and a secondary referral population of over 350,000. NRGH has a total of 10 ORs in the main operating room and 2 ambulatory ORs used for ophthalmology and minor procedures under local anesthetic. We provide 24/7 coverage for the main OR and the labour and delivery suite. Members of our group also provide coverage at our outpatient consult clinic, an ambulatory surgical center, and a private oral surgery clinic. General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology, Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, and Ophthalmology.The surgical program at NRGH completes approximately 13,500 surgeries per year including 8,700 daycare surgeries and 4,600 in-patient surgeries. We have a busy emergency service conducting approximately 2,300 emergency surgeries per year. Our perinatal unit does approximately 1,200 deliveries per year and is supported by a level 2 NICU. Our main OR was constructed in 2005 and is equipped with state-of-the-art wireless HD laparoscopic equipment. We utilize Drager Zeus anesthetic machines and share access to four ultrasound machines to facilitate regional anesthesia and vascular access. We run an outpatient consult clinic three days per week. NRGH has a new state-of-the-art ICU tower which will include 12 ICU beds and a 12 bed high acuity unit. We enjoy good support from critical care and most medical subspecialties.Additional consideration given to candidates with fellowship training in any of Regional Anesthesia, Obstetrical Anesthesia, or Perioperative Medicine.Community Information:
