Work Arrangement:Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC)/ Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC) three times per week at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.About GM:GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Our work sits at the intersection of software quality assurance, DevOps, and tools development—from designing internal web applications and automation frameworks to creating visualization platforms that simplify complex system interactions.Role Overview:As a Software Quality Automation Developer, you will contribute to the design and development of internal platforms, tools and automation frameworks that support engineering teams across the organization. You will work on full-stack solutions, from backend services and databases to frontend visualizations — while ensuring quality through test automation, CI/CD integration, and performance monitoring within the organization.You will collaborate with developers, QA engineers, System Engineers and DevOps specialists to build tools that improve workflows, increase visibility into complex systems, and drive consistency across platforms. This role requires a strong foundation in software quality practices, automation, software development, and cloud-based development environments, along with curiosity and initiative to learn and grow in both tools development and DevOps practices.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop internal tools and frameworks that enhance CI/CD pipelines and improve test automation workflows.Build and maintain full-stack applications that support requirement owners, developers and QA teams in validating software quality and accelerating delivery.Create solutions that integrate with version control systems, build pipelines, and automated testing frameworks to streamline engineering processes.Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and QA teams to embed automation, performance monitoring, and IT compliance checks into the software delivery lifecycle.Required QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.Exposure in DevOps, Software Development, Quality Assurance, tools development, web application developmentExposure to frontend development (HTML, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS frameworks) and/or backend development (Node.js, Express, Python, GraphQL).Familiarity with databases (MongoDB, SQL/NoSQL, Postgres) and an understanding of how data flows between systems.Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile team environments.Strong problem-solving mindset, eagerness to learn, and ability to collaborate effectively with teammates.Strong expertise in version control systems (Git, GitHub, Gerrit), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and scripting languages (Python, Bash).Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently.Legal authorization to work in Canada and ability to travel to the US.Valid Canadian driver’s license.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).Experience in automotive software development or embedded systems.High levelof interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a geographically dispersed team.Familiarity with test frameworks such as Robot, Unittest, Selenium, PyTest, CppUTest and etcExposure to BDD frameworks such as Behave, Cucumber, and similar tools, with an understanding of the BDD mindset.Proficiencyin reading and debugging C/C++ source code.Basic knowledge of controls theory and the software development process.Experience withCarSim,dSPACE/Control Desk, or similar HIL tools.Sponsorship: PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU DO NOT NEED SPONSORSHIP TO WORK IN CANADA NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.
