We are recruiting for a Director of Care at Bonnechere Manor. This is a full-time position.

Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care (DOC) is responsible for the quality of resident care. The DOC is accountable for the efficient operations of the nursing department, consistent with the mission, vision and values of Bonnechere Manor.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures nursing services are provided in a manner that focuses on the satisfaction of the clients and fully supports their rights.
  • Responsible for the preparation and control of the approved nursing department budget and all related expenditures.
  • Ensures the effective, efficient utilization of human resources for the nursing department.
  • Responsible for the effective management of assets for the department.
  • Promotes and enhances effective communications throughout the nursing department and positive relationships with community and external organizations.
  • Responsible for nursing staff education and development.
  • Assumes responsibility as designate for the administrator when required.
  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable provincial and municipal acts.
  • Performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with the operational policies of the County of Renfrew.
  • Protects own health and the health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety.
  • Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act 2007.

Qualifications:

  • A general registered nurse with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • MScN is preferred.
  • Current certification in gerontology with the Canadian Nurses Association is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, and database).
  • Must have immediate accessible transportation.
  • Ability to meet and maintain health requirement standards of Bonnechere Manor as per the long-term care legislation.
