Senior Property Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for full‑cycle accounting for a portfolio of mixed commercial properties, preparing financial reports, overseeing recoveries and reconciliations, and supporting both internal stakeholders and junior accounting staff. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with strong commercial real‑estate accounting experience and advanced knowledge of Yardi Voyager. Technical Accounting Expertise Analytical and Problem Solving Attention to Details Time Management and Prioritization Team Leadership and Knowledge Sharing Communication and Stakeholder Management Takes initiative Provides good cooperation with the accounting team, other departments, and clients Job Duties Lead the full‑cycle accounting function for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery. Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages, including supporting schedules and variance analysis. Complete monthly bank reconciliations, HST filings, journal entries, and bill payments with a high degree of accuracy. Oversee operating cost recoveries, CAM reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations in accordance with lease terms and company policies. Prepare year‑end working papers and draft financial statements for external auditors. Review and validate A/R and A/P transactions, rent charge notices, shared facility budgets, and expenses in coordination with internal stakeholders. Build and review annual operating budgets for commercial properties and provide variance explanations to management. Support new tenants and property onboarding in Yardi Voyager, ensuring accurate set‑up and mapping. Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to Junior Property Accountants through mentoring, troubleshooting, and workflow oversight. Partner with Property Management and Operations teams to resolve financial discrepancies and support business decisions. Perform special projects, analyses, and ad‑hoc accounting tasks as assigned by management. Prepare cash flow projections on a timely basis. Work Conditions In office role with regular interaction with internal departments, external auditors, and property management teams. Standard business hours with flexibility during month‑end, year‑end, budget cycles, or audit periods. Prolonged periods of computer and desk work. May be required to handle confidential and time‑sensitive information. Must be able to maintain high attention to detail in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
