With offices across Canada, and into the US and Mexico, they continue to growThe Opportunity:We are looking for a Civil Engineer with a background in municipal Infrastructure (water, sewer, storm sewer, retention ponds, road design) to join the St John’s team. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to lead a team and plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of civil projects.Roles and Responsibilities:As it relates to the provision of services to the NL Provincial Municipal Infrastructure and the Municipality Clients, your responsibilities will be to:Follow the procedures laid out by the NL Municipal Infrastructure Dept to complete a project.Manage a variety of projects such as infrastructure upgrades and subdivision developments, including design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation infrastructureProvide technical guidance to a team of EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specificationsCarry out estimates of project costs, analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports, proposals, and contract documentationBuild business relationships with current and potential clientsInterface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectationsEnsure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets to high quality standardsCreate a work plan that includes a schedule, milestones, control, and risk factorsProactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues as they ariseQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (other disciplines encouraged to apply if practicing Civil Engineering)Must be registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Newfoundland and LabradorHave concrete experience in the design of horizontal infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Storm sewer)5+ years of relevant experience in municipal engineering and project managementExperience in materials testing (soils, concrete) and/or structural design and analysis is an assetExperience in hydraulic analysis and design and/or process-mechanical design is also considered an assetStrong project management, technical and analytical skillsStrong technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposalsEffective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skillsAbility to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to mentor and work with junior engineers and designersGood organization skills and strong attention to detailWe embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
