Position Overview:

Under the direction of the District Mental Health and Addictions Services Manager, the District Family Preservation Coordinator leads the work of a team of Family Preservation Workers, while carrying a reduced caseload. Primary responsibilities include case management, the coordination of intake, assessment and the implementation of family preservation strategies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A minimum HBSW or related degree with four years child/family counselling experience is required. An MSW is preferred
• Minimum of four (4) years direct service and counselling with children, adolescents and families
• A combination of training and successful experience in working with the Anishinabek people, culture, communities, traditions, and teachings
• Significant experience in family intervention and / or group facilitation
• Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including a Vulnerable Sector Search
• A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is required
• Work flexible hours, according to the needs of families
• Travel substantially in communities in and around the District of Thunder Bay
• Work in the homes and locations familiar to client families
• Posses a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence, and have access to a personal vehicle; carry satisfactory liability insurance

Hours of Work:32.5 hours per week

Salary Range: $29.26 To $38.18 Hourly
