Our Engineering Design Organization (EDO) is looking for an engaged, capable individual who is committed to continuous improvement to tackle the role of Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer based out of one of our Western Canada offices. Responsibilities include:
- Plan and be responsible for the delivery of instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems designs in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Support the preparation of proposals and bids for projects, developing or verifying the technical scope of a project, and developing design and construction fees
- Provide design, engineering, and creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities, as well as client specifications and industry codes and standards
- Coordinate the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members
- Fulfill the I&C systems engineering needs for a wide variety of industrial and municipal clients
- Participating in a multi-disciplinary environment in determining the instrumentation, controls, and process automation requirements
- Develop detailed engineering packages to represent installation requirements for process control systems and instrumentation
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility
- Technical review and quality control of design drawings and documents
- Professional sealing of technical documents
- Provide commissioning and start-up support for projects in construction phase, representing the firm and supervising systems integration activities
- Travel to fabrication sites, installation sites, and client facilities as needed
- Participation in client meetings as needed
- Coordination of control system designs with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, vendors, and outside design team members)
- Providing direction to and coordination with internal designers/drafting team
Requirements:
- 8+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering design experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education
- P. Eng. designation
- Strong working knowledge of P&IDs, instrumentation and control systems design (PLC/PAC/RTU/DCS/HMI/SCADA), networking, process automation, etc.
- Familiarity with instrumentation used to measure and control flow, temperature, pressure, level and analytical properties as well as relevant codes and standards
- Positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and validated time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability in proposal preparation, budget control, performance analysis, and contract management
- Strong understanding of contractual agreements, accurate record keeping, and documentation
