Retail Chef Manager - Aramark @ Queen's University 2 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants Job Description Reporting to the Food Service Director, the Retail Chef Manager oversees the day-to-day operation for Aramark food retail operations on campus at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON. This involves planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the operations. The Retail Chef Manager is responsible for providing leadership to a team of 15–30 food service associates. Duties will also include food purchasing, costing, inventory control and menu development. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, an excellent track record of leadership and motivation, and a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a similar position in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Job Responsibilities Ensure daily operations run smoothly, stepping in as needed. Implement and lead compliance on all Aramark operating standards, franchise standards, and legislated standards including company policy, Health and Safety Standards, and Safe Food Handling. Develop operational forecasts each period and explain variances in sales, costs, and activities. Oversee staff scheduling, track daily labour on schedule, and report to the Director of Retail Operations. Control inventory, food, labour, and direct costs. Assist weekly with inventory. Ensure quality, courteous service to all customers. Manage hiring, staffing, labour, progressive discipline, accommodation, training, and HR policy administration. Assist in disciplinary action alongside the Food Service Director and Human Resources. Develop and motivate supervisory staff to attain performance standards. Monitor equipment repair and maintenance. Collect, record, and deposit all revenue received at the component. Maintain compliance of all cash handling and cash auditing procedures, reporting any overage/shortage. Ensure adherence to Aramark policies and procedures and Health and Safety Programs. Qualifications At least 3–5 years of similar experience in a fast‑paced food service environment. Knowledge of computerized spreadsheet and word processing programs. Self‑directed with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Positive attitude and genuine customer focus orientation.
