Come explore what makes us one of BC’s Top EmployersResponsibilitiesSupports the Senior Manager in overseeing the maintenance, operations, and safety of assets within the transit system.Assists in managing day-to-day activities related to maintenance, operations, budget management, safety compliance, stakeholder liaison, and project coordination.Collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient operations, contributing to reliability and safety of the transit service.Assists Senior Management in the division’s strategic and operational planning when required.Participates as a member of the management team, contributing to divisional goals, budgeting, costings, policies, procedures, planning, and quality assurance.Supports the development and adherence to annual departmental budgets and operational metrics/KPIs; recommends strategies to address performance gaps.Oversees annual training plans in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.Manages annual shift schedules to optimize staff utilization and meet staffing, cost recovery, and overtime goals.Represents the team at coordination meetings and supports capital and systems upgrade projects, ensuring alignment with maintenance requirements.Reviews service delays and follows up on mitigation plans and corrective actions; raises concerns to Senior Manager with recommendations to reduce delays.Assists in Emergency Planning and Incident Management, plans exercises, and conducts debriefs following incidents.Supports safety and performance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions identification.Manages reporting staff including selection, development, coaching, performance management and related people management practices.QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant disciplines and 6 years of related experience in progressively responsible positions.Other Requirements: Advanced leadership and team-building skills to manage direct reports and provide guidance to indirect reports; knowledge of labour relations, dispute resolution, and related legislation in people management.Solid knowledge of safety and workplace compliance regulations and legislations.Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks.Effective change management and critical thinking skills.Solid computer skills in standard office tools and web-based systems.Due to the nature of 24/7 services, occasional late or extra hours may be required.Work DetailsWork Schedule: 37.5 hours per week.Work Designation: Resident; This position works predominately on-site.Rate of Pay: The salary ranges from $97,600 - $146,400 per annum.
