Data Architect with MongoDB Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid Overview: Seeking a seasoned MongoDB Solution Architect to design and deploy a net-new MongoDB Atlas based Operational Data Store (ODS) on Azure to support operational analytics, AI workloads, and conversational access to enterprise data. This role will define architecture, data access patterns, and integration strategy aligned with the cloud data ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: Architect and implement a MongoDB Atlas ODS on Azure, serving as the core data foundation for business insights and AI solutions. Define data models, ingestion patterns, indexing strategy, performance tuning, and lifecycle management. Design API-based data access (Azure APIM, REST/GraphQL) to enable AI/ML workloads and conversational interfaces to enterprise data (e.g., Azure OpenAI integration). Partner closely with AI/ML teams, data engineers, and business SMEs to align ODS design with use cases and governance. Establish security, backup, DR, and operational best practices leveraging native Azure platform capabilities. Provide domain leadership on NoSQL modernization and integration with Azure data services (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Event Hub). Required Skills & Experience: 7+ years in data architecture/database engineering with deep MongoDB Atlas expertise. Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale, distributed MongoDB solutions and/or operational data platforms. Strong proficiency in API-driven data services, enabling AI/GenAI and real-time workloads. Hands‑on experience with Azure services: Data Factory, Event Hub, API Management, Key Vault, VNet/security controls. Strong understanding of schema design, aggregation pipelines, sharding, and performance optimization.
