Reporting to the Financial Manager, this position is responsible for assisting the Budget Officer with budget development, forecasting and analysis. This position will also handle reconciliation and maintenance of a consolidated report for faculty teaching load, account analysis and financial expenditure approvals.

The Academic Fiscal Analyst will: Assist the Budget Officer in the coordination and preparation of a consolidated budget submission on behalf of the Faculty by working closely with units and creating supporting schedules;Support the budget development process including drafting information/ communication for Chairs/Directors and Administrative Assistants, creating templates, and process supports;Assist in conducting variance analysis on actual-to-budget comparison, investigate significant variances, and provide value-added recommendations to improve performance;Ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with policies and procedures established by the University and/or funding agency;Assist individuals with interpretation of policies and implementation of best practices, including questions related to appropriate financial dimensions for expenses;Analyse Faculty operating projects, including internal research and event awards, start-up funds, and program accounts including additional course fees;Ad hoc projects as assigned by the Dean and/or Budget Officer;Reconcile to the approved budget, annual workload plan, and academic timetable;Financial planning, reporting, and analysis experience;Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with extensive knowledge of Excel;Ability to research issues and develop recommendations;Ability to exercise independent judgement, utilizing policies and procedures to determine the best solution;Preferred or Asset Skills: Experience with not-for-profit accounting standards is an asset;Job Type: Full-time
