Electrical Engineering Technologist TRIUMF is Canada’s particle accelerator centre, a publicly funded, not‑for‑profit research laboratory that brings together nuclear, particle, life and material sciences to advance scientific discovery. Our Electrical Services Group delivers dependable electricity to the TRIUMF site and supports site projects on power distribution and infrastructure. We are seeking a senior‑level electrical engineering technologist (electrical technologist) to join this group. Candidates should hold a diploma as an electrical technologist from a recognized technical institution and have at least 7 years of experience in industrial design/drafting, specialising in electro‑power technology. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed design work and working drawings for new or modified electrical services equipment including grounding, lighting, fire‑alarm systems, single‑line diagrams, panel schedules, control wiring and layout plans. Design cable tray and maintain cable‑tray routing plans. Collaborate with installers, maintainers, engineers, designers and project‑control teams to update drawings, schedules and databases. Assist multidisciplinary teams with specification and procurement of parts and equipment. Develop and maintain standards, best practices and new initiatives; supervise junior technicians as needed. Support formal health and safety program and maintain compliance with Canadian Electrical Code. Knowledge & Skills Full understanding of electrical design processes and project specifications. Expertise in CAD‑based software (SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Hands‑on experience in 2‑D drafting, 3‑D modelling and integration of electrical systems. Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, industry standards and construction methods. Nuclear Energy Worker The position requires the incumbent to be trained and designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW). Successful candidates receive in‑house radiation‑training for work in radioactive areas. Minimum Qualifications Diploma as an electrical technologist or equivalent training/education. 7+ years of industrial design/drafting experience specialising in electro‑power technology. Experience with circuit and system design, equipment layout, construction methods, detailed specifications, installations, commissioning, and field work on electrical systems. Knowledge of motor control centres, drives, UPS, power distribution and other applied electrical equipment. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $82,535.00 per year plus a comprehensive benefits plan. Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Position Type: Permanent, full‑time.
