Program Overview – Housing Operations East – Housing & Homelessness Services St. Hilda - 800 Vaughan St, Toronto The Housing & Homelessness Services Unit’s primary goal is to help street‑involved people and/or those with low income find and maintain appropriate housing and work within an eviction prevention model. Job Overview This position is accountable to the Manager, Housing Operations & Community Development for the daily management of the physical, administrative and operational components of the housing site(s) and is responsible for property management and administrative duties in a subsidized housing environment. It also facilitates the involvement of tenants in their housing community according to the enhanced tenancy management and community development objectives reflected in the housing program. The Housing Services Coordinator works within a tenant‑directed management model that reflects the unit’s community development and enhanced management program. This role involves working with tenant communities located at WoodGreen’s various housing sites as well as portfolio‑wide and community projects. What You Will Do Property Management Responsibilities Administrate RGI for all tenants, including annual income reviews and required notifications and/or RGI calculations. Facilitate intake management; background checks, generate leases, and orientation. Collect rent, establish payment schedules to manage any arrears, and follow up LTB Notices. Work with building services to ensure units/building facilities are maintained in good repair. Educate tenants about basic and preventative maintenance issues, and their responsibilities in maintaining their apartment as per signed tenancy/occupancy agreement. Housing Administration & Tenant Relations Responsibilities Conduct assessments and assist tenants in identifying issues in their housing community and facilitate problem resolution. Support tenant engagement in ongoing building management and tenant community participation. Provide tenants with necessary housing information, including their rights and responsibilities. Facilitate tenant participation in developing community standards/policies, resolving conflicts, mediating grievances, and creating forums to address issues. Provide remedial support and access to resources and referrals for residents managing situational concerns. Intervene in crisis/conflict situations and mediate disputes pertaining to tenancy. Address issues that impact housing security. Identify and remove barriers to tenants maintaining their tenancy. Use an eviction prevention model to support tenants through regular follow‑up, case conference meetings, and liaison with pertinent supports. Monitor and review tenant needs and communicate information to the Manager. Act as a service broker, mediator, and link with other agencies to support tenants. Community Development Programming Develop community‑building programs to engage residents, encourage social interaction and inclusivity, and support empowerment and self‑sufficiency. Assess social recreational needs of tenants. Collaborate with a team to plan and deliver community programs. What You Bring to the Team Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or a related field. 2+ years of experience in social services supporting individuals with street involvement and/or low‑income backgrounds. Understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act, the Housing Services Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Property management experience including lease administration, rent collection, and unit turnover management. Experience with group facilitation and knowledge of group dynamics. What Will Set You Apart Knowledge and experience working with women who have experienced violence, addiction, abuse and/or homelessness. Knowledge of issues faced by newcomers to Canada. Knowledge of client‑centered, feminist, and anti‑oppressive frameworks. Experience in conflict resolution, crisis response, de‑escalation, advocacy, and negotiation. Knowledge of community resources supporting low‑income individuals, mental health or addiction histories, and trauma histories. Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to communicate with diverse ethno‑cultural backgrounds. Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and interview skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
