Job Description

Overview of Position:
Responsible for manufacturing process and equipment improvements. Define, plan, organize, lead and perform activities involving production equipment and processes to support changes designed to improve safety, quality, equipment reliability, performance and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Participate in product development teams.
  2. Perform manufacturing process capability studies, as needed.
  3. Support the shop floor during required activities and product launch periods.
  4. Lead and execute equipment and process improvement initiatives including methods and practices.
  5. Initiate and lead projects to improve equipment performance, reliability, and cycle time, yields, including capital projects and project management.
  6. Manage work load priorities and communicate time and cost status and changes to management, as needed.
  7. Manage and execute engineering change control process within the guidelines of the existing quality system requirements.
  8. Develop, maintain and deploy work standards for processes.
  9. Engage in lean manufacturing initiatives to improve safety, material flow, cycle times, productivity and capacity.
  10. Work with Safety, Quality and Production to help ensure operator training and proficiency.
  11. Improve and develop competencies in core process technologies and maintain knowledge of equipment and manufacturing technology changes.
  12. Participate in 5s Events and Kaizen related events.
  13. Participate in or lead cross functional team meetings.

Key Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or diploma (Technologist and Technician programs will certainly be considered).
  • 2-5 years of experience in a large manufacturing environment (automotive ideal but not required).
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodology an asset.
  • Effective project management skills with proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to understand and apply Lean, analytical, and statistical tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
