Building Automation System Operating Technologist

Building Automation System Operating Technologist (Night Shift) BGIS is seeking a Building Automation System Operating Technologist for a night shift position (7pm-7am EST, 3 days a week). The role requires remote operation of BAS in BGIS-managed client facilities, day‑to‑day operator level control changes, trend data review, energy and operational optimization initiatives, and coordination of corrective actions for complex issues. Key Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with building operators and site managers to identify operational and energy savings opportunities in BAS. Develop and implement BAS change recommendations, coordinating with contractors and BAS vendors for programming and remote portal development. Provide input to project teams and/or BAS vendors on scope and remote portal requirements. Conduct commissioning inspections project transition from installation to ongoing operation. Respond promptly to demand service requests related to BAS/control issues, diagnosing and rectifying problems. Optimize facility uptime and asset integrity for assigned facilities by monitoring system performance and fault events. Perform corrective and demand service maintenance on BAS, coordinate maintenance repairs, and implement temporary overrides to minimize operational impact. Work with site teams and vendors to address frequent failures, record and mitigate deficiencies, and maintain documentation. Maintain and update remote platforms and installation documents within the BAS and work order management system. Operate in accordance with established processes and practices, complying with all internal and external requirements including environmental and health and safety. Maintain positive client relations by providing observations and suggestions for facility building automation equipment and systems improvements. Record and track resolution data within the service maintenance management database, ensuring work quality, contract response, and other requirements are met. Initiate documentation to obtain formal approval for required work and assist with facility‑related projects. Knowledge & Skills College Diploma in a related discipline. College or university courses in BAS or Building Operations (asset). Minimum 3 years of remote BAS operation experience across multiple facilities. Minimum 3 years of proficiency with BAS navigation, data‑trend setting, extractions, and troubleshooting. 5 years of experience with word processing and spreadsheet data manipulation and analysis tools. 1 year of familiarity with integration concepts and platforms such as BACnet systems. Operational experience in fault detection platform (asset). Minimum 3 years of knowledge of optimization and energy management strategy for BAS. Minimum 3 years of strong adherence to processes and practices related to facility operations and maintenance. Minimum 3 years of strong client‑service orientation and high sense of urgency. Minimum 3 years of effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification. Mentoring skills required to support junior BAS Operator development (asset). On‑call/standby and emergency call availability, occasional extended hours (must be available). Programming, coding, on‑site installation, and/or maintenance of BAS (asset). Bilingualism (asset).
