The University comprises 19,000 students, 5,000 faculty and staff, an operating budget of around $360 million, and more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs in seven Faculties, including a recently established Department of Engineering. br/>Brock is a comprehensive university known for excellence in teaching and learning, providing a transformational student experience, and strong university-community engagement. Brock is also home to a community of highly regarded scholars in many disciplines who are undertaking impactful research and making significant contributions to knowledge and society. Brock is a national leader in student services, ranking first in Ontario and third among comprehensive universities in Canada for student satisfaction in part due to its top national ranking for mental health support, second ranking for academic advising, extracurricular activities and administrative staff, and third ranking for residence living and student life staff.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the successful candidate will be able to evidence significant strategic leadership within a complex institution and governance structure. They will have financial acumen as well as experience in management, team building, working with Boards, external engagement, and fundraising. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree with a track record of scholarly achievement and a deep understanding of academic institutions. At a time defined by COVID-19, the next President will have a view of how Brock can move to its next stage of evolution as the world moves beyond the pandemic.
Of critical importance, the next President will be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and anti-racism. Equally, they will bring a commitment to reconciliation, indigenization, and decolonization. They should demonstrate a track record of success in moving forward both of these areas in meaningful and impactful ways. They should be able to point to success in building inclusive communities of diverse students, staff, and faculty in which people feel welcome, respected, and valued.
An executive search is being undertaken by Brock’s search partner Perrett Laver.
