Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Fuels Safety Operations, the Manager, Engineering & Technical Services plays a pivotal role in our organization’s journey to becoming an outcome-based regulator. Drive consistency across how engineering reviews are carried out across the program and ensure a high level of customer service is delivered.

Using data and causes of incidents, proactively identify Codes that are in need of amendment and adoption and lead adoption of new Codes and creation of Director’s orders.Make public safety decisions and provide resolutions on elevated issues which may not fall under clear policies or standards.Promote public safety by effectively leading the delivery of Fuels Safety Engineering Services.Review, strategize and lead the necessary consultations to address and formulate technical responses to the issues and questions raised by Customers and external stakeholders.Provide leadership on modernization and transformational initiatives to ensure achievement of corporate vision of becoming an Outcome Based Regulator (OBR).Provide assistance to the Statutory Director by being the first point of contact in receiving technical inquiries from internal/external stakeholders, reviewing, strategizing, and addressing the requests.

Job Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of past leadership experience in coaching, mentoring and development of others, managing a specialized team, team development and integration, technical training, and teaching.
  • Strong verbal and written (technical paper development and presentations, public relations/public speaking) skills.
  • Technical knowledge (preferably fuels related) and the ability to apply and enforce knowledge as related to TSS Act, regulations, CSA, ULC, UL, NFPA and ASME codes and standards, OHS Act.
  • Risk assessment and process applications such as hazard identification, assessment, and mitigation.
