This role targets a Staff engineer with 8+ years of professional experience who thrives in collaborative environments, eager to grow technical depth, and wants to build scalable systems that solve real-world security problems.Auth0 Emerging Tech is the Engineering organization focused on hot technology: fast delivery, reliable results, and a dynamic, collaborative distributed team. We value ownership, learning and innovation. We are focusing on boosting our customers’ offer by enabling their own Developer Portal as a point of engagement for partners and developers and will be responsible for Auth0 integrations across products and services in the Agentic space. Auth0 works with NodeJS (JavaScript or TypeScript), a hint of Go, and databases like MongoDB or PostgreSQL.ResponsibilitiesBring expertise in identity and security while building innovative features and standards that will expose the Agentic AI ecosystem to customers and their user base.Build and maintain scalable services using TypeScript, NodeJS, and PostgreSQL/MongoDB.Collaborate with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to deliver features for API and product integrations for customers and partners.Write clean, testable, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews and system design discussions.Provide technical direction to the team, identify improvement opportunities, and implement design changes.Contribute to observability and alerting systems to ensure reliability and performance.Learn and grow by working with experienced engineers on complex distributed systems.Share knowledge and mentor other engineers to support their growth.QualificationsSolid programming experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and familiarity with NodeJS runtime environments.Practical experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres and MongoDB).Ability to write well-tested, high-quality code.Enjoyment of iterative development.Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver high-value results.Strong context-switching capabilities to contribute to multiple projects.Autonomous work style with the ability to seek help when needed.Systematic problem-solving approach with strong communication and ownership.Experience with architecture principles across infrastructure, security, data, integration, and application layers.Experience building resilient, scalable products.Bonus pointsIAM conceptsExperience with AI Agents and understanding problem spaceExperience creating and maintaining public and secure APIsCuriosity about AI and its intersection with identity and securityExperience with Identity and Access Management softwareKnowledge of observability tools like Datadog, Prometheus, OpenTelemetryExperience with Go or other languagesCompensation and BenefitsBelow is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary depends on skills, qualifications, and experience. Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave in accordance with applicable plans and policies.
