As a Lab Assistant you will be responsible for processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions and/or results accurately and in a timely manner and ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life.Status: Contract Full Time (Six Months)Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.Discipline: HistologyWork Style: OnsiteLocation: 115 Midair Court, Brampton, ONInternal Posting Deadline: September 15, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.(EST)Why Dynacare is an amazing place for YOUJoin an award-winning "Top Employer" with meaningful and impactful career opportunitiesAccess a health and wellness benefits program that supports you and your loved onesGrow and thrive with a dynamic, successful company through internal mobility opportunitiesInvest in your future through RRSP match benefits and an employee stock purchase programExperience a collaborative, diverse workforce that prioritizes dignity and respect for allHow YOU will make a differenceData enter all patient and test information for MOH and Private client requisitions in an accurate and timely mannerVerify the completeness of all documentation and file related paperworkHandle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as requiredProcess add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selectionProcess all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate areaFollow all guidelines for the handling of infectious materialSort and/or label all specimens received matching to the documentation providedPrioritize time sensitive specimensSeparate specimens to correct vials according to barcodes and type of test and ensure to place all specimens in appropriate area for testing and/or shipment to an outside laboratoryResponsible for reference problem solving any outstanding reference resultsLiaise with various departments for any problems and inquiriesResponsible for processing all clinical trials as requiredPerform routine pre-analytical equipment maintenance following documented procedures, as requiredPrepare specimens, and documentation and shipping for reference testingEnsure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratoryResponsible for follow-up on missing samples, documentation, results, etc.What YOU bring to the roleLaboratory Assistant Program or minimum 1 year equivalent previous experienceStrong specimen processing knowledgeMLA Certification preferredExcellent data entry skills required (minimum 40 words per minute)Ability to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environmentExcellent verbal and written English communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environmentNice to have : Experience with AS400, Experience in HistologyWorking ConditionsNormal office environmentMedical laboratory environmentRequired walking with repetitive motionsMay sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer useRequired to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as requiredExposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variancesPassionate about supporting healthy lives with commitment and care?
