OverviewDepartment: Philosophy, University of Lethbridge. Position: Continuing Instructor, tenure‑track or equivalent; full-time teaching, at the rank of Instructor III. Start date: as early as July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Salary: $64,745 to $75,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.The University of Lethbridge is located on traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory with campuses in Lethbridge and Calgary. Responsibilities Teach a broad range of philosophy courses, with emphasis on introductory courses and sections of Introduction to Philosophy. Possess the ability to teach courses that complement the department’s strengths; experience teaching Non‑Western philosophy is an asset. Advise undergraduate students and coordinate the undergraduate program where appropriate. Engage in service activities that benefit undergraduates and support or expand departmental offerings for undergraduate students. Qualifications Ph.D. in Philosophy or a closely related field; or ABD with an expected defense date. Demonstrated ability to teach a broad range of courses, including introductory philosophy. Our Department The Department of Philosophy maintains strengths in Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Law, Logic, Argumentation Theory, Pragmatism, Feminist Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics, and the History of Philosophy. The department has recently established engaging initiatives and supports a vibrant student culture, including an undergraduate conference, an ethics bowl team, and an active philosophy club.
