Opportunity As a key contributor on our professional integrated / multi‑disciplinary Architecture and Engineering practice for Northern Canada, you will work both collaboratively and independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, award‑winning designs. Your experience ensures that you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will innovate and create new prototypes designed with sustainable products and green architecture sensibility, lead the development of integrated design proposals, continuously update the building information model, prepare various output drawings throughout the project, mentor others and collaborate with team members to deliver final deliverables. Ideally you will be located in or willing to relocate to Yellowknife, Whitehorse or Iqaluit. Relocation assistance is available. Candidates from other Canadian cities with local Stantec offices who are willing to travel to the north as required will also be considered. Your Key Responsibilities Managing complex tasks on multiple, large‑scope, highly complex projects Effectively participate and help win work in interviews for potential projects Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress, expectations, deadlines and deliverables and understand the limits of the decision‑making responsibilities of the role Assist in the negotiation and development of project agreements Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance Mentor assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams Assure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub‑contractors Manage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule Conduct senior peer review of deliverables, including Building Condition Assessments and Tender Documents Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel Travel to small communities to conduct building condition assessments or review construction progress Direct client invoicing and effectively manage collections Capabilities and Credentials Extensive project experience supporting our team’s ability to win work during proposal responses Capable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principal’s in Charge on multiple projects Ability to prepare design and building condition assessment reports Excellent understanding of accessibility codes, life‑safety codes, northern building construction systems, means and methods, materials and industry‑associated standards Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; preferred experience with Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp Proactively take appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidance Effectively manage multiple deadlines and priorities Team player with client, project team and contractor Excellent negotiator and communicator Education and Experience A professional degree in Architecture and a minimum of five years of related work experience Registered or able to become registered within one year as an Architect with a Canadian Architects Association Preferential credentials include: LEED Green Associate or LEED AP, Lean project management or PMP, Contract Administration or Certified Specification Writer, and/or related building science or technical credentials Office Environment Typical office environment working with computers. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered. Occasional field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Range Locations in Lower Mainland – BC – Min Salary $84,500 – Max Salary $122,400.
