VHA supports a flexible work environment with opportunities to manage schedules in the community.VHA’s Speech Language Pathologist provides consultation, assessment and planned interventions for diverse client groups across Southern Ontario and the Capital region, referred through VHA Rehab Solutions and Champlain Rehab Solutions. The SLP works within a continuous quality improvement framework that aligns with VHA’s vision and mission and promotes good relationships with clients, families, staff, volunteers and affiliates.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and diagnose clients in all age groups using standardized and non-standardized tests.Devise and implement individualized, goal-directed treatment programs based on case history, assessment results, current professional practices and College standards.Monitor client progress and evaluate treatment and management on an ongoing basis.Counsel and educate clients, care-givers and family members regarding communication deficits and management strategies.Identify and teach self-management strategies to help clients recognize and avoid unsafe situations.Discuss clinically significant information with physicians or other health care team members.Assist in client discharge planning in collaboration with clients, families and the health care team.Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of client care in accordance with legal, professional and VHA standards.Maintain knowledge of current developments in Speech Language Pathology and community services relevant to treatment populations.Adhere to the professional code of ethics and standards of practice as defined by the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario.Required QualificationsMaster’s Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology.Membership in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario.Eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.Minimum of two years clinical experience and knowledge of community care requirements and resources.Expertise in the management of clients with complex communication disorders.Clinical expertise to provide a variety of speech language pathology interventions.Compensation and BenefitsBenefits and pension plan for permanent eligible employeesCompensation for education and professional developmentVHA provides comprehensive orientation and ongoing trainingMentorship and peer supportCareer development opportunitiesEmployee and family assistance programWellness resourcesPerks and discountsStaff and service provider eventsAccommodation and DEIVHA is an Equal Opportunity Employer that champions inclusion and diversity.
