Position Summary As an HR Business Partner with a focus on labour relations, you will work closely with the People Culture Leadership Team, Labour Relations team, and the Corporate Leadership team. Your role includes providing in-depth knowledge, expertise and counsel related to Labour Relations, policies, processes and strategies, legislation, and labour market trends. Our Ideal Candidate Has Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field. Certified Human Resources Leader professional designation (or working towards) is required. Minimum 5 years’ progressive HR experience in a unionised environment, preferably within healthcare. Strong knowledge of relevant Employment legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Human Rights legislation, and Pay Equity Act. Demonstrated people-centred leadership qualities including humility, compassion, authenticity, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire and empower others. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust with employees, leaders, and stakeholders at all levels. Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and shared decision-making, aligned with organisational values and team-based approaches. Skilled in negotiation, facilitation, conflict resolution, and navigating change with empathy and professionalism. Proven track record leading a wide range of issues and managing grievances and disputes to support organisational objectives. Excellent computer skills including MS Office, social platforms and job boards. Commitment to cultural diversity in the workplace as it relates to the employment process. Excellent customer service and relationship management skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead HR initiatives in a fast-paced, complex environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organisation. Criminal Record Check required. You Will Be Responsible For Effective administration, interpretation and application of collective agreements and hospital policies, guidelines and directives. Grievance and dispute resolution management, including representing the hospital at mediations and partnering with legal counsel on matters proceeding to arbitration. Deliver sound, responsible guidance on matters involving workplace violence, workplace discrimination and harassment, return-to-work/modified work by identifying and cooperating with HR partners (e.g., Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness). Lead, participate and support union‑management committees and meetings. Engaged participation as part of the client consultancy team (along with representatives from finance and decision support units) to inform client decision-making on operational planning, annual budgeting and risk mitigation. Fostering additional HR offerings within the People Services division by establishing strong working relationships with colleagues responsible for recruitment, job evaluation, total compensation, talent and performance management, diversity, volunteer services and organisational development. Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned client group and key stakeholders (including union leaders) to assist with meeting the client’s people needs in a proactive manner. Ensure effective and efficient application of standards in relation to daily HR transactions. Participate in the development and implementation of human resource policies, procedures and programs. Prepare reports, proposals, briefing notes and executive summaries to translate data and research into clear, succinct, and actionable recommendations.
