THE OPPORTUNITY We are currently seeking a Senior Archaeologist to join our Surface Land team on a 12-month contract. Reporting to the Manager, Surface Land & Indigenous Relations, this role will work closely with the Surface Land & asset teams to drive timelines, budget, scope of work and priorities related to archaeological field work and reporting in British Columbia. RESPONSIBILITIES Project manage archaeological field work and reporting in British Columbia Provide direction to ARC's archaeology service providers on fieldwork and reporting expectations Review AIA's and site alteration permits for accuracy prior to submission Work with the asset team and archaeological providers on archaeological mitigation strategies Manage site alteration process Support Team with application submissions requirements & correspondence with BCER Manage ARC's 12.2 permit and ensure that all obligations are met, including annual reporting Collaborate with the BCER Heritage Conservation, First Nation and permit adjudication teams Manage all archaeological audits Track and manage post permit conditions reporting WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC A bachelor's degree in Archaeology is required, a graduate degree in Archaeology is preferred Minimum 15 years of experience, including fieldwork experience, preferably in northeast British Columbia Must be a member of the British Columbia Association of Professional Archaeologists (BCAPA) Strong knowledge and understanding of the BC Heritage Conservation Act, archaeological processes and reporting requirements Experience in project management, with the ability to meet tight deadlines Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and enjoys working in a team environment REWARDING OPPORTUNITY An opportunity to be part of delivering responsible energy by developing and growing your career with us Working collaboratively with, and learning from some of the most talented and experienced people in our industry A culture of caring and high performance Focus on health and well-being An environment where all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, feel a sense of belonging, and can contribute fully to the organization’s success Meaningful work that makes a difference in the Canadian energy industry ADDITIONAL INFORMATION As this role is considered risk sensitive, the successful candidate will be required to successfully complete drug and alcohol testing.
