This role performs data collection, troubleshooting and problem-solving activities for machinery, piping and structural systems across industries and supports the Vibration, Dynamics and Noise team located in the Calgary, AB office. Travel: Up to 50% travel to client sites within Canada and the U.S. (onshore and offshore). Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. ResponsibilitiesPerform vibration analysis by acquiring vibration data using different data acquisition hardware and softwareEvaluate operational issues by assessing vibration data, process conditions, machine performance, maintenance data and customer communicationTroubleshoot piping systems, structures, compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes, motors, engines and other equipment for land-based and offshore facilitiesBalance rotating equipmentInteract with operations, maintenance and inspection personnelPerform equipment vibration and performance assessments for rotating equipment packagesPrepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standardsAdhere to Wood – Vibration, Dynamics & Noise (VDN) HSSE policies and best practices at all work sitesDemonstrate strong verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt to different work environments and customers’ stylesEstablish strong working relationships with customers and maintain a strong customer focus QualificationsMechanical Engineer or Technologist (BSME or BSMET)New graduate or 0-2 years of job-related experienceGood knowledge of vibration fundamentals with interest in investigating and troubleshooting vibration problems; basic understanding of performance, reliability and maintenanceExposure to vibration data acquisition systems and software (industry or university lab)Excellent communication and analytical skills; proficient with computer systems and softwareTravel up to 50% (primarily US; some international travel; offshore facilities included)Understand rotating machinery including compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes, motors, enginesInterest in acoustic theory, multiphase flow and transientsProficiency with standard Windows software; familiarity with vibration data acquisition software is a plusValid driver’s license with good driving history; current passport eligible to travel About UsWood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
