Salary Range: $7,049 - $9,165 Monthly

The Ministry of SaskBuilds & Procurement (SBP) supplies services to the public and other ministries that support efforts to build the economy and make a better life for all Saskatchewan people. Services include central property management: including government buildings, accommodations, transportation, and information technology. The SaskBuilds and Procurement ministry mandate includes oversight of all infrastructure projects and assets. We deliver infrastructure solutions that contribute to the province’s growth and improve the quality of life of our citizens.

The Operations and Service Delivery (OSD) Division of the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement delivers critical, cost-effective, and responsive operating services to the government, including accommodation services (building management, operations, access, security, and maintenance) and logistical and commercial services (transportation, disposal, mail, records storage, and telecommunications).

The Operations and Service Delivery Division is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented individual to fill the position of Senior Policy Consultant.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Management and Strategic Development, the successful candidate will provide policy, strategic, and financial reporting support to a large division that focuses on providing direct client service to successfully enhance the delivery of citizen and stakeholder programs and services. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting ministry programs and implementing strategies that address client needs in alignment with division, ministry, and government policy and direction. This work will be primarily related to division process and policy development, integration, standardization, and planning policy;
  • Providing strategic options, policy advice and recommendations on functions, activities, and issues related to process management and fiscal planning;
  • Contributing to the creation, revision, and improvement of divisional and ministry policy and processes;
  • Creating and sustaining an innovative and supportive environment to enable staff to break down structural and functional barriers to achieve strategic goals.

Ideal Candidate

Our candidate of choice must be a resilient and innovative individual who is able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and expertise related to policy and process development and government decision-making processes;
  • Excel in communication and relationship building with ministry partners and has the ability to contribute to discussions with senior leaders on complex and contentious issues;
  • Engage with others to achieve continuous improvement, increased capacity, and a sense of meaningful contribution toward organizational and branch goals;
  • Demonstrate superior interpersonal skills characterized by effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships;
  • Be a results-driven team player and have the ability to collaborate with others;
  • Have a strong reputation for integrity;
  • Focus on service excellence and innovation.

Typically, the knowledge and skills for this position would have been acquired through:

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, combined with several years of policy and process development, and facilitating complex discussions with senior leaders; and/or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the Saskatchewan Public Service core values of respect and integrity, serving citizens, practicing excellence and innovation, and acting as one team. This includes participating in and contributing to an inclusive workplace culture. Some travel may be required for this position.

SaskBuilds and Procurement is where infrastructure, procurement, real property, facility management, logistics, and information technology meet to enable the Government of Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan and programs and services for citizens and communities. The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement offers dynamic and challenging work for talented individuals in an environment that supports innovation, creativity, and diversity.

What we offer

  • A competitive salary and benefits package;
  • Vacation, scheduled days off, and alternative leave options;
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development;
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace that values individual contributions.

We are committed to workplace diversity.
