The School serves a diverse and ever-changing adult learner population of nearly 10,000 annually, from pre-collegiate to post-retirement age, with an annual budget of approx. CAD$ 24 million. It offers a combined total of 50+ credit and non-credit programs and courses at undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels, of varying duration, delivered through a variety of formats, including online and face-to-face courses, and workshops. Academic content covers the breadth of digital transformation, applied social sciences, management, and communication studies. Particular emphasis is placed on serving the learning needs of First Nations as well as global communities and non-traditional adult learners.SCS’s core pedagogic approach centers on highest quality, inter-active experiential and peer learning combined with close collaboration practitioners, employers, and professional organizations. As a bridge between the University, the local community in and around Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the world, SCS operates in a predominantly bilingual (French and English) but multicultural environment. One of four multi-disciplinary academic domains in the School, Technology and Innovation offers academic content in different formats and durations on diverse computational topics including computational intelligence, data science, and information security. This faculty role initially includes responsibility, as part of academic duties, for academic program coordination of one or more academic programs in the academic domain (department).**Position Description:** We seek applications from candidates with a PhD (or close to finishing) and with expertise in cybersecurity, cloud security and software systems. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: network security, cloud computing, secure distributed computing, security governance, risk & compliance , intrusion testing and security assessment, secure software development, DevSecOps, applied cryptography, and data engineering. As this is a position that combines teaching, applied research as well as academic administrative oversight responsibilities, the successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership in academic administration at the university level, and will be embedded in relevant professional networks in Quebec, Canada and internationally. The successful candidate will be able to step into academic administrative leadership responsibilities in disciplines related to technology & innovation in a chair capacity, with knowledge of budgeting, personnel, and grants management experience.This is a full-time, ranked academic, non-tenure stream (Contract Academic Staff) position with a term appointment of three (3) years, based at McGill’s downtown campus in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Academic Domain Director of Technology and Innovation. The appointment may be renewed subject to performance and budget availability.**Position Duties:**This position involves teaching and related administrative and supervisory as well as leadership responsibilities. Duties performed include (but are not limited to) the following:* Provide strategic academic direction to peers and administrative staff of a department focused on multi-disciplinary technology and innovation post-secondary education.* Teach online and in-person credit and/or non-credit courses in the Technology and Innovation Academic Domain, with a focus on applied cybersecurity and cloud computing. A typical faculty course load in the School of Continuing Studies is the equivalent of 18 credits per year (in a combination of undergraduate, graduate or non-credit professional courses). The actual course load will depend on the scope of academic administrative responsibilities and special projects as determined in consultation with the Dean.* Maintain an active pedagogic and applied research portfolio that directly contributes to content offered in the School of Continuing Studies (SCS).* Oversee, and contribute to, the development of courses and other offerings aligned with SCS, and University strategic goals;* Assume primary responsibility for maintaining the academic rigour of these courses, including ensuring that pedagogical methods are up to date;* Recruit and provide leadership to part-time instructors in best practices in teaching and learning, including holding regular teaching-team meetings, reviewing course evaluations of part-time Course Lecturers and providing feedback and guidance to individual instructors and students;* Work productively with other academic and administrative colleagues to create curricula and other programming;* Serve on Faculty and University committees and workgroups as needed and available;* Develop and maintain fruitful working relationships with other Faculties and Schools and with key University service units;* Participate in Faculty and University orientation and promotional events;* Contribute to an inclusive, intellectually stimulating, and healthy work environment.**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:*** PhD (or close to finishing) and with expertise in cybersecurity, cloud security and software systems.* Experience in development and teaching of courses and programs, preferably at the post-secondary educational level, for adult learners.* Extensive and current demonstrated professional experience in a field related to one or more of the programs.* Relevant professional certifications such as MCP, CEH, CCSK, CCSP, or CISSP* Academic administrative leadership experience at the post-secondary level* Experience teaching and/or leading diverse learners and teams**OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES:*** Strong written and oral communication skills in English* Written and oral communication skills in French a plus but on the job language training is available.* Online or blended/hybrid course development and teaching experience is a plus.* Demonstrated ability to foster learning by establishing an inclusive classroom dynamic, involving learners in various activities, and managing student participation and group interactions effectively.* Experience and/or expertise in working with underserved, underrepresented, and/or Indigenous learners.* Demonstrated ability to use appropriate technologies to support student learning.* Demonstrated ability to understand and navigate complex environments to achieve results.* Demonstrated commitment to staying abreast of research and advances in the relevant area(s) of specialization.* Excellent interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills.* Demonstrated ability to lead as well as participate in teams.* Experience in working with underserved, underrepresented, and/or Indigenous learners.* Commitment to the values of university continuing education.**ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED AS ASSETS:*** Experience
