Duties Direct and record disability case management activities (e.g., early intervention, case management, return-to-work planning). Assess any barriers and implement strategies for a successful and timely return‑to‑work. Promote a better understanding of the Disability Management and Accommodation program within the division and/or detachment. Provide guidance and support to ill, injured or disabled members and their supervisors. Regularly monitor accommodation (due to disability and/or family) and return‑to‑work plans in the Division to ensure work‑related needs are properly addressed. Intent of the processThe intent of this process is to fill an indeterminate vacancy at the AS-05 level in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A pool of candidates may be established and used for future staffing. Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Positions to be filled1 Operational Requirements Willingness and ability to travel occasionally. Willingness and ability to work overtime when required. You need (essential for the job) Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following Graduation with a degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution in Social Sciences or Health Sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the area of disability management and accommodation. Recent and significant experience in case management of files in at least one of the following programs within the public or private sector: workplace accommodations, disability management program, or return‑to‑work program. (*Recent* is defined as experience performed in the past 5 years. **Significant** experience is defined as experience that covers a broad range of related activities normally acquired over approximately 2 years.) Recent and significant experience in the formulation of advice to managers (all levels) AND employees on the application of laws and policies related to at least one of the following programs within the public or private sector: workplace accommodations, disability management, or return‑to‑work programs. Experience collaborating with stakeholders to support the successful return to work of employees. Applied / assessed at a later date Knowledge of disability management including accommodation best practices. Knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA) as it relates to duty to accommodate. Ability to communicate effectively orally. Ability to communicate effectively in writing. Ability to influence effective results. Ability to conduct research, analyse issues and determine viable options and recommendations. Ability to manage program priorities in order to meet deadlines. Working effectively with others. Showing initiative and being action‑oriented. Demonstrating integrity and respect. Thinking things through. Language requirements (essential for the job) May be applied / assessed at a later date Education: Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation. Experience: Managing complex disability management and/or return‑to‑work cases. "Complex" is defined as cases requiring consultations with various stakeholders, multi‑dimensional considerations reflecting various types of outcomes. Experience working in a unionised environment.
