If so, this could be the perfect next step in your career.Lead a team of skilled engineers and contribute to COWI’s strategic directionCOWI offers an exciting leadership opportunity for a Group Manager and Discipline Lead - Transportation Structures based in our North Vancouver office. This role is focused on managing and developing COWI’s engineering presence in Canada and partnering with our network of technical leaders and teams across the country.In this position, you will guide and develop a team of structural engineers in North Vancouver and manage key client relationships with Provincial and Government clients. You will lead a diverse array of transportation projects in Western Canada, promoting innovation at every stage.You will be part of COWI’s Canada leadership team, reporting to the Vice President, Head of Engineering Canada. You will support workforce planning, resource optimization, business development, and talent acquisition/retention. You will oversee pursuit and delivery of transportation projects to ensure project excellence and client growth.ResponsibilitiesCore Role:Provide leadership and mentorship to assigned staff, fostering growth and collaboration and supporting professional development.Manage key client relationships in Western Canada and lead strategic project pursuits, collaborating with senior leadership on team vision and strategy.Serve as project manager, design manager, or technical specialist on diverse transportation projects for public, private, or contractor partners of varying size and complexity.Define and monitor staff performance targets, conduct annual performance evaluations, and recommend competitive salaries based on contributions and results.Build a diverse and inclusive team and serve as an ambassador for COWI’s values.As a Member of the Canada Leadership Team:Participate in strategy meetings to contribute to COWI Group's priorities and support the Vice President, Head of Engineering Canada.Ensure COWI North America meets its strategic targets.Manage business development and marketing efforts, identify project opportunities, and represent the company externally (technical committees, conferences, professional bodies, etc.).Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to support growth.QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringA Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or ability to obtain within 6 monthsMinimum 15+ years of experience in Bridge Design and Project Management in a consulting environmentExperience leading bridge projects with Western Canada clients; experience with the BC Ministry of Transportation is an assetStrong background in managing projects and overseeing teams with relevant technical engineering knowledgeExtensive experience in team development, mentoring, coaching, and providing constructive feedbackProven ability to lead through change with genuine interest in employee career developmentOutstanding interpersonal and communication skills, effective time management, and ability to thrive in an innovative environmentWhat we offerAt COWI, we work with our customers to shape a sustainable and livable world.
