Addiction Counsellor

Responsible for client relations through psychoeducational and process groups and individual counselling. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willingness to adhere to the Mission and values of The Salvation Army.
- One year related experience, including experience in the applicable community social services sector.
- Prior 12-Step-based counselling experience and/or lived experience is considered an asset.
- A working knowledge of substance addictions, homelessness, poverty issues and concurrent disorders and practical knowledge of life skills.
- Ability to conduct group discussions, think critically, set strong boundaries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization and administration skills, and strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to work in a drug and alcohol free environment with zero tolerance policy.
- Qualify for and be willing to obtain enhanced security clearance.
- The successful applicant will have completed ICADC, CCAC or University Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
