AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Structural Engineer - Tunnel

At this position, you will be involved in designing tunnels for transportation infrastructure, dams, water projects, wastewater, and carrying out engineering works. You will also be responsible for designing cast-in-place permanent structures, designing shotcrete linings, and in the design of precast TBM segmental tunnel linings in hard rock and soft ground, in the rehabilitation of existing underground structures, etc. If you are looking for new challenges and an employer with major infrastructure projects, and if you want to join an inclusive and diverse team you can count on... then we are the employer for you

As a Structural Engineer, you will have, among other things, to:

  1. Perform underground structure analyses or complex 2D and 3D structural analyses and prepare design calculations;
  2. Prepare design criteria and carry out construction impact assessments;
  3. Prepare and develop structural details and plans for construction using BIM and AutoCAD in collaboration with drafters/designers;
  4. Prepare construction estimates and structural quantity calculations;
  5. Contribute to risk management activities as well as construction cost estimation;
  6. Design retaining walls (SOE) for shafts, voussoirs, and tunnel linings;
  7. Perform underground structure analyses.

The ideal candidate:

  1. Has a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a specialization in structures is required; a master's degree in structural/tunnel engineering is an asset;
  2. Has a minimum of 6 years of experience in underground structure (tunnels) and SOE design, and is a member of the OIQ or another province in Canada. (Experience in dam design and/or rehabilitation and/or shotcrete tunnel design is an asset);
  3. Is proficient in modeling and designing underground structural systems using 2D and 3D finite element analysis (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, CATIA, Abaqus, and/or others);
  4. Has experience in rehabilitating existing underground structures and in waterproofing designs;
  5. Ability to assess damage to buildings caused by adjacent underground construction.
