Purpose of the position

Reporting to the Manager, Software Test Development, your focus will be test planning, design, execution, and automation for our desktop enterprise and education offerings (IQ Whiteboard and Notebook), which have an installed base of millions of users. The successful candidate will work with stakeholders including designers, developers, and product managers. Test work will include in-depth exploratory, functional, regression, and performance testing and scripting and automation where most logical. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the integration of hardware and software testing, as our software products are designed to work with our SMART interactive flat panel hardware.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with your project team to determine test requirements
  • Working with program managers and developers to translate requirements into testable designs
  • Designing and executing stress, performance, scalability, and other non-functional tests
  • Exploratory testing for individual components or features; finding and reporting defects
  • Automating regression tests
  • Communicating and summarizing status to stakeholders

Education and Work Experience

  • Dedication to software test as a craft
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, or related disciplines
  • At least 8 years of experience with software testing preferably in a senior role
  • Seniority: Mid-Senior level
  • Demonstrated experience with at least some of the following technologies:
  • Scripting languages (particularly Python)
  • Testing tools such as RobotFramework
  • General automation, tool, and development skills
  • Experience with Android and Linux platforms, as well as Mac and Windows
  • Continuous integration systems such as TeamCity
  • Experience with UI and usability testing

Working Conditions

  • This is an on-site role. Attendance at the office will be required to test software and hardware integrations in our device lab.
