Location: Timmins, OntarioSchedule: 5x2Purpose: Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Chief Mine Geologist will be responsible for leading the Production Geology team for Hoyle Pond Mine. The role includes managing the Production Geology team, overseeing underground grade control activities, supporting the Mine Plan, and playing a key role in the reconciliation process. Responsibilities Manage and oversee the Mine Geology department’s grade control activities including supervising the collection, processing, compilation, interpretation and reporting of the mine’s geologic information. Support skill development and personal growth in Mine Geology team members through active coaching, seeking training opportunities, and fostering a positive work environment. Support both Long and Short‑term ore modelling. Coordinate and collaborate with others to effectively execute the Hoyle Pond Mine Plan. Work effectively with other departments including Mine Engineering, Mine Operations, and contractors to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution while promoting Discovery Silver’s policies and regulatory requirements. Manage, supervise, and be responsible for all underground grade control activities including geological mapping, sampling, data integrity, and reporting. Use production tracking systems to monitor and report on geological and mining results. Apply industry‑standard techniques and software such as Deswik, Fusion, LeapfrogGeo, Datamine Studio RM, and Maptek Vulcan to compile, analyse, and interpret 3D spatial data and support ore models. Provide coaching and mentoring to Geology team members on geology, data systems, and underground grade control execution. Promote a strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and a respectful, supportive work environment. Maintain a deep understanding of ore‑controls for Archean gold deposits, underground mining, and grade control, and coach team members accordingly. Possess strong analytical skills and proficiency in geological software for visualising and interpreting data to support operational decision‑making. Identify areas for improvement in procedures, systems, or processes and implement solutions. Drive coaching, mentoring, and skills development of Production Geology team members to ensure capability, promotion, and succession. Plan and safely execute delineation (infill) drill programs, ensuring compliance with logging, sampling, QA/QC, and chain‑of‑custody procedures. Integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets to refine gold mineralisation concepts and geological models, prioritising mining targets. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimise ore extraction, minimise dilution, and contribute to mine design and stoping design approvals. Report mine production results and assess reconciliation between planned ore models and actual mining/milling results to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Prepare and manage the Mine Geology department’s annual capital and operating budgets and schedules, including delineation drilling. Review and approve tonnage and grade forecasts in mining targets with other Mineral Resource specialists. Perform other duties as required from time to time. Training and Education Bachelor of Science (Geology or Earth Science) degree required. Master’s degree in Geology or Earth Science is an asset. Must hold or be eligible to obtain Ontario Professional Geologist designation. 10+ years of experience in underground production geology in a senior or supervisory role (exploration experience acceptable). Experience within Archean shear‑zone‑hosted gold deposit(s) preferred. Good interpersonal and communication skills; innovative and collaborative. Proficient with geological software (Leapfrog Geo, Leapfrog Edge, Datamine Studio RM, Deswik, Maptek Vulcan) and databases (Fusion, acQuire); GIS (ArcView), CAD (Deswik); MS Office required. Valid driver’s licence. Underground Common Core experience an asset. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently.
