Senior Highway Design Engineer Location: Brampton, Markham, London or Hamilton, ON. Job Description In this role you will be a part of the Transportation team based in Ontario, working on a variety of highway design projects. Responsibilities Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, and preliminary and detailed designs for new and rehabilitated divided highways, arterial regional roads, collector roads, and local roads. Prepare preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with applicable industry and client standards. Prepare contract specifications, tender documents, and applications for agency approvals. Review and issue finalized shop drawings. Coordinate and mentor junior staff within the division. Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and construction supervision staff. Assist with the preparation of proposals for future projects. Qualifications & Experience Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with at least 10 years of experience, preferably from a consulting engineering office in Ontario. Experience with P3, Design‑Build, and Infrastructure Ontario‑Metrolinx projects is an asset. Approved in MTO‑RAQS under the Highway Engineering—Detailed Design Category for Detailed Design – Multilane Arterial & Expressway. Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D (earlier versions considered). Strong skills in ProjectWise, Word, Excel, and MS Project. Highly proficient in MTO’s software applications CPS and HiCo. Comprehensive knowledge of MTO and Metrolinx standards, including municipal and regional design and drafting standards. Skilled in cost estimating, quantity preparation and specification writing. Track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from MTO, road authorities and environmental agencies. Independent, organized, motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
