In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice, the Mission and Values of Fraser Health and working collaboratively and in partnership with the interprofessional care team in the provision of person-centered care, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients in the designated clinical area; acts as a resource to support acute care staff in the management of patient issues in the designated clinical area and in other areas of the hospital.
Assesses patients and collects information from a variety of sources using skills of observation, communication, data review and physical assessment; makes a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determines whether the condition can be improved or resolved by an appropriate nursing intervention; plans, performs and evaluates nursing interventions and care.
- Provides support in the designated clinical area with the implementation of patient care plans and protocols requiring specific nursing skills such as, but not limited to Sepsis Protocol and Induced Hypothermia Protocol; participates in the interprofessional decision process to stabilize patient on the nursing unit, transfers to the designated clinical area and/or facility, or modifies a patient's care plan.
