In this role you will:

  • Interpret financial reports and insights to support strategic financial and operational decision-making within the organization and identify risks and opportunities across the business and influence proactive decision-making.
  • Work with Management Accountants to analyze cost and performance drivers.
  • Conduct onsite project reviews, comparing actuals, forecasts, and budgets to understand and explain variances.
  • Collaborate with Management Accountants on labour reporting and project spend coding accuracy, refining and realigning where necessary.
  • Conduct deep dive project forecast reviews, assessing project risks, programme time and cost implications.
  • Perform project transaction reviews to ensure expenditure is capitalizable and compliant with financial regulations.
  • Review both operational and capital project performance and progress, ensuring alignment with financial standards and policies.
  • Assess and review business cases to ensure investments align with WSL's strategic and risk profile.
  • Collaborate with the project control team to track and drive asset capitalization.
  • Provide financial leadership, training, and guidance to project managers.
    • Proven experience in construction and project accounting.
    • Experience in construction contracts and associated contractual adherence.
    • Ability to read and understand project programs, and their time & cost impact.
    • Strong business interrogation and analysis skills.
    • Advanced excel skills.
    • Degree qualified in Finance.
    • 7+ years working in management accounting plus 3 years minimum in a senior partnership role or project delivery role.
    • Ability to provide robust financial review to business cases.
