The Students Join One Of Our Teams For a Work Term During Undergraduate Or Graduate Studies, Or As An Early-career Professional. As a Student, You will support the Investment Team in evaluating potential investment opportunities and assist with portfolio management of the existing portfolio. Responsibilities Conduct market, industry, and competitive research Perform financial and operational analysis Assist with due diligence and investment memos Support back-office and middle-office functions Engage with founders, experts, and ecosystem stakeholders Apply strong analytical skills and collaborate with experienced professionals across diverse sectors Challenges and Work Streams Platform Building: assist in managing the deal pipeline and providing financial analysis for end-of-period reports Keep market databases and deal pipeline up to date Support other team members during the life cycle of an investment Ensure investment research files and related documentation comply with policies and procedures Monitor investments, amendments, and disbursements with financial analysis and forecasting Collaborate with Marketing and Public Relations to produce promotional materials Contribute to the fund’s intellectual capital through research insights Deal Sourcing: accompany senior colleagues at industry events, perform market research and scouting, inform investment strategy Deal Making: support due diligence on market, competition, management, sales, products, and related metrics Manage operational tasks in due diligence and prepare interview guides Determine and validate performance metrics for valuation and forecasting Sustainability Venture Fund: analyze technical documentation, conduct reference calls, perform routine compliance procedures (KYC/AML/BDC Eligibility) Record information in BDC systems and databases Portfolio Management & Support: conduct mark-to-market tasks for fair value reporting Monitor portfolio performance and escalate opportunities or issues Participate in investee board meetings as an observer when applicable Assist investees with introductions to potential suppliers, investors, and employees What We Are Looking For Typical Background Currently pursuing an MBA or bachelor’s degree in commerce, economics, science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Candidates from other backgrounds are welcome if they demonstrate strong analytical capabilities. MBA candidates with 1-3 years of pre-MBA experience in roles involving structured thinking, financial analysis, or technical expertise are preferred. Relevant experience may include: Finance roles: venture capital, private equity, investment banking, accounting Operator roles: technology startups, industry-leading corporations, industry specialists Advisory roles: consulting, law, corporate strategy, corporate development Technical Knowledge: proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, scenario modeling), and familiarity with Microsoft Office; knowledge of AI tools and automation is an asset Ability to present and answer questions clearly to executive audiences Operational or technical skills (coding, chemistry, electronics) are assets Bilingualism in French and English is an asset Behavioral Traits: collaborative, proactive, able to work independently within a team, and able to meet tight deadlines Additional Information As part of the hiring process, we conduct background checks (credit, criminal, educational, international) that must meet our internal guidelines.
