Fluvial Geomorphologist – Montrose Environmental GroupWe are looking for a dedicated Fluvial Geomorphologist to join our Eastern Surface Water Team in Guelph or Mississauga, Ontario. The successful candidate will work with a diverse group of geomorphologists, water resource engineers, and ecologists to lead and support projects related to river processes and broader water resources.OverviewMontrose Environmental Group is committed to unlocking a sustainable future. We collaborate across services, disciplines, and geographies to solve environmental challenges and create a positive impact for the planet and future generations.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and execute a variety of geomorphology projects, including stream restoration, natural channel design, erosion hazard assessment, and watercourse management plans.Provide technical input into stream restoration projects based on channel processes.Mentor and train junior team members on field data collection and reporting support.Complete geomorphic and hydraulic analyses to evaluate channel erosion thresholds and perform performance monitoring studies.Prepare technical reports, work plans, and support business development initiatives, including drafting proposals.Build strong client relationships and liaise with stakeholders within various sectors.Assist multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project goals and objectives.Travel as required within Southern Ontario to support field programs.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Environmental or Earth sciences, Physical Geography, Water Resources/Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field (a graduate degree is an asset).Seven years of experience in fluvial geomorphology or water resources engineering, specifically related to the assessment, design, and construction of water resources projects, with a focus on natural channel restoration.Eligible for, or registered as, a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer.Strong analytical and field capabilities with proficiency in natural channel design concepts, surface water management, and design/drafting software.Knowledge and experience with hydraulic/hydrologic and sediment transport models (e.g., HEC‑RAS).Strong ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written.A client‑focused, self‑motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills.A valid Class G driver’s license with no restrictions.LocationGuelph or Mississauga, Ontario.EEO StatementMontrose Environmental Group welcomes and promotes diversity and inclusion in our workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
